What process seems to be using the most CPU and CPU Time (Task Manager)?

Have you installed new programs? Have you done an antivirus scan?

Also use any startup manager to turn off startups that you don't want to run until you need them. Only turn off non-system startups. You can use the reference at the end to find the ones you can't identify.

Free startup managers (startup references at end):

    Remove Startup Programs Buddy
    Ashampoo Startup Tuner
    Startup Control Panel
    MZ Startup Manager
Startup Control Panel (Exe version for Vista)
    Emsa Startup Manager
    EM Startup Manager
    WheresJames Startup Manager

    Startup Programs Reference
    Startup Database (bleepingcomputer)
