Hi all, this is my first post here.

I am getting weird 'out of memory' messages in XP pro, even though I have 1 gig of internal memory and not running anthing very exotic at the time nor editing large video files or something like that.

After reading some of the advice given to other people with sudden changes in their system's behaviour my suspicion is the possible presence of unwelcome guests on my machine.

I run norton AV 2004 and regularly scan with Spybot S&D as well as adaware (including any updates) Nothing remarkeable comes up.

I therefore decided to run Hijackthis, that I read about on this board.
Unfortunately I am not able to conclude any action from this log so I would much appreciate if one of the resident experts could give me a pointer.

many thanks in advance.

Rescan and put a check next to each of these then close all browser windows and click"fix checked"

Then in addition you have several startup items that are not needed and shutting those off from auto loading will boost system perfortmance a bit.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I will do that ,though I don't even know what the entries did in the firsts place. (?)

What seems to be the best method to remove shutdown auto startup items you mention and which ones would you suggest?

Thanks again

Ok..What you could do is start / run / msconfig /startup tab

Then uncheck :
Nero check
Image studio
qttask
microsoft office
realsched.exe
nwiz.exe
AcroTray.exe

Then reboot after unchecking and applying.
