    Hello.
I'm having problems with spyware on a friend's computer. I have run the latest editions of Spybot S&D, and Ad Aware which found eZula Hot Text, DSO Exploit, OnWebMedia, and SubSearch. I could not remove these programs. I ran Hijack this and went through the listing. There is one listing that keeps returning. Everytime I open Internet Explorer there are two unwanted BHO's attached. My Search bar is listed in programs and I cannot delete it. Here is the log:

hi,, There is a newer version of HJT that might show more or perform better get it and post a log from it.

Just make a new folder HJT2 and download to that and run from there. When you Fix items have NO browser windows open. Only have HJT open.

    http://tools.radiosplace.com/HijackThis.exe

Uninstall DealHelper (Add/Remove Programs entry if it has one) it is ad-based and usually reccommended to be removed.

Entries in your log show it. Post the new log.

Do you have "Show all files" set?

Try to find that shim.hold file and delete it...sometimes safe mode works better to do this.

    C:\WIN98\DHUpdt.exe
    C:\WIN98\dhbrwsr.exe
    C:\WIN98\dhsvr.exe

Those above are in your first log....now there are two of these: in your newer logfile...they can be bad, but not automatically...two malwares use this same filename.

    C:\WIN98\System32\wuauclt.exe---do NOT fix these...yet.
    C:\WIN98\System32\wuauclt.exe

Run AdAware and SpyBot after you fix items with HJT, make sure they are fully updated.> some bugs are being fixed in the first release of AAW v 1.04 if you just got that recently...like today or yesterday.

you may need to scan at Housecall.

    http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Set the AUTOCLEAN button at housecall scan....takes awhile to finish loading the ActiveX but this is a very good scanner.
