I just switched to Mozilla/Firefox and I'm having better luck.
But I did have some problems a little ago with some Trojan Bytefly virus thing from Java.
I have AdAware SE, Spybot S&D and Spyware Blocker always updated and run regularly. I have Nortons Utilities 2001 with Antivirus that is updated.
Just wanted to see if I'm doing ok now or could remove anything that might be slowing me down.
I clean the internet cache regularly and check cookies too.
Oh, and removing all the stuff that AdAware says it can (the none threating stuff) does that help? I don't wanna remove something vital.
Also, no longer running AOL - but had to put it back in to use internet otherwise I couldn't because of some DLL that was missing when I removed it.

This is my HiJack This log:

In your Control Panel, find the Java Plugin, and double click it, after awhile it will open and you should see some tabs at the top of the small gray window...find the Cache tab, open that, and find the "Clear files" or similar button to clear the Java cache. Close that up when done, it does not show you anything.

If you open Internet Explorer, at the top select Tools, then Internet Options> Security> Trusted sites...click to open Trusted sites list, when it comes up, can you edit out this one?

    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.windupdates.com

If it comes back, there is another thing to try.

Next: Internet Options, Delete Files, also put a check into "Delete all offline content" and OK.

You and delete cookies, but when you do this, sites that require you to log in with usernames and passwords, such as this site, will not auto-login>>>the first time you go to them, they will require that you type in your user name and passwords...and then you should be able to set the autologin back as it was for those sites. Or, the new cookie will recognize the saved passwords and username...

You are set to delete cookies and can do so, if everyone that uses the computer knows all their passwords for thingsl like Yahoo, Hotmail, Messengers, etc.

Next: Internet Explorer closed up, go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup and empty Temp and Temp Internet Files, and empty the Recycle Bin. Just those!

Next: Go to the Start button, and select Run, type in the space over anything else that shows, just this:

    %temp% and hit Enter once....

In the temp folder, delete everything, not the folder itself.

Next- in Add/Remove Programs, do you see any entry like these, and if so, try the uninstall for them:

    WinToolsEasyInstaller, or WinTools anything.

Next- I would like you to go here and scan all hard drives:

Panda scan will let you save a Report when you finish the scan, (which may take awhile) so copy and paste the content of the save Report which should be Activescan.txt, here in your next reply, along with a new Hijackthis log, OK? You are using win98, so you will not need to get the newer version of Hijackthis, someone may post to have you do that, it is an option and should not show anything different for your system, however it does for winXP systems. Hijackthis does not do anything on it's own, like scan and remove, you have to do the fixing items with our help, so do not try to use it yourself to remove items, please.

SpyBot is at version 1.3 and AdAware is at version SE 1.05 now, and older versions will expire soon and no longer be updated and will do you little good. Look and see if you have these versions please.

If you have AdAware 6.0 it should be uninstalled before getting SE 1.05. Same if you have an older SpyBot like 1.2 or earlier. Post if you do have the newest versions.
