My PC has been running real slow recently.

When I press CTRL-ALT-DEL, along with the ususal stuff I find Mdm. I think I read somewhere that this is from a virus?

    I've run Adaware I found some malaware, which I think I've deleted. I've run HJT. This is is what it said;

    Any problems here?

Hello Phil. You need to download the new version of Hijackthis . Link>>>>>
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
I do however see a couple problems that should be removed.
Safe start your computer and search for the file MOSEARCH in "add-remove" delete if found. Search for this file and delete >>> C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\SYSTEM\MOSEARCH\BIN\MOSEARCH.EXE Delete folder also.
Close all browsers and run Hijackthis----fix these>>>>

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MOSearch] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYSTEM\MOSEARCH\BIN\MOSEARCH.EXE

    O16 - DPF: {62475759-9E84-458E-A1AB-5D2C442ADFDE} - http://a1540.g.akamai.net/7/1540/52...meInstaller.exe

Delete all temp internet files and temp files.
Post a new log file for expert advice.
    best of luck! >f

Thanks for the help so far.

Sorry for the dump question to start.... how do I do a 'safe start'?

    Not there.

The whole folder? There's lots of stuff in it?

    How do I 'fix' these?

Sorry for being dumb but I'm not a techy.

    Phil

    Hi philofleeds,

mosearch.exe is Fast Search utility in Microsoft Office XP.
Uses a lot of resources. If you don't like office search, I suggest to stop its loading but do not delete execution file.

Let's see your current HJT log.
