I had some 90 viruses on my computer, and used norton to fix them. However, now I have on startup a "cannot find system32.exe. Ive searched, and found that I need something called Hijack? What is it, and what do I do with it? Is there anything else I need?

What you are refering to is the program Hijack This that will help identify system32.exe..

The best thing to do is d/l the program and run a scan. When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, save the log as a .txt file, and copy and paste its contents into your next post.

Had similiar/have similar problem. If I were you I would get all the downloads/updates from your antivrus, firewall etc...Save to disc. Then save all your files, or anything else you do not want to lose to disc. Unplug from the internet, and do the most destructive restore you can. Tear down your partitions, and wipe all sectors. Then reinstall your OS, your firewall, anti-virus etc... leave files off for a few days. Then go to symantec or housecalls, and run thier scans 2 or 3 times. Then connect. If it is a virus, trojan, maybe that will slow it down enough to find out what you got.

Please do not advise people to wipe out their systems.

most viruses can be cured with a little bit of help.

a complete format & reinstall is rarely needed and only after a lot of effort has gone into curing the problem first.

Thanks for the help. I do however have two questions. What is system32.exe and do I need it? And are there any other things that I could "fix" that dont really need to be there?
