Run HJT again, close all open windows, put a checkmark next to the following items, and press "Fix Checked":

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
O1 - Hosts: .0.0.1 www.igetnet.com
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WCPS] C:\WINDOWS\System32\winttr.exe

Restart your computer.

Manually look for this bold-face file, and if you find it, delete it from your computer, and empty your recycle bin:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\winttr.exe

Lastly, your version of HJT is a previous one ... the new one is 1.97.7. You can update it from within HJT, or download a fresh copy.

I also tried to delete the system 32 item you mentioned and it would not allow me to do it. Access denied is the message I got. Any suggestions? You are a doll for helping out. :)

Did you restart your computer before running the new HJT scan? I ask because this is now running twice:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\winttr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winttr.exe

Also, you picked up something else in the interim ...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Nothing has been easy for the past week ... the nasties are really being stubborn.

You don't need this item running: Logitech Desktop Messenger. Go to Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall it.

Then restart your computer in safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406

Follow the instructions for XP.

Try to kill that running process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\winttr.exe

While in safe mode, run HJT and fix this:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Delete the entire ISTsvc folder from your computer. Empty your recycle bin.

Restart normally ... and post another HJT log please.

I did restart my computer before running the new scan. I did everything you mentioned, but I'm still having problems. MSN keeps logging me in automatically even though it's closed and I'm not signed in. When someone trys to talk to me I can't talk back because it says I'm not signed in. Grrrrr. This is frustrating the crap out of me. I don't mind talking to people, but honestly, if I'm not logged in it means that I'm busy. It doesn't matter what my status is either. Away, off line, busy, it all comes across as online to everyone. I really do appreciate you helping me out with this. (y) ;) :)
