Your computer has some unnecessary programs running in the background that don't need to be, but we can deal with that after Telecomm69 gets your HijackThis log cleaned up.

---------------------------------------------------------------

By the way, you have HijackThis.exe in a temp folder, so it needs to be moved out of there.

Open the C:\Program Files folder, then create a new folder in there called HijackThis. Once that's done, open the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder and move the "HijackThis.exe" file into the newly-created "HijackThis" folder.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The buildup of temp files should be cleaned out on a regular basis as part of your computer maintenance. Go into Start - Find - Files And Folders, select the hard drive to look in, then delete everything that appears under

*.TMP

C:\TEMP\*.*

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\*.*

(Note: This is why you don't want "HijackThis.exe" in there because it'll get deleted in the process)

It's always a good idea to reboot your computer before you do this, just to insure that none of those temp files are being used.

flavallee,

Thanks for the additional help on this problem. I did a search for *tmp files as suggested but did not remove anything pending the results of the Hijackthis process. It looks like some of the files that came up from the search were applications. I may need some more specific guidance here as I did not understand your instruction to "reboot computer before" to be sure none of the "TEMP" files are being used.

If you dont use real player you can fix this ...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

You dont really need this either ...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime

This too is dubious you would be much better off with adaware from here

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpyHunter] C:\PROGRAM FILES\ENIGMA SOFTWARE GROUP\SPYHUNTER\SPYHUNTER.exe

EVERYTHING listed under

*.TMP

C:\TEMP\*.*

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\*.*

is junk and is safe to delete, regardless what it says or what you think it is. Telecomm69 and the others will probably back me on this.

Temp files are created during installation of programs and while running some programs. That's why it's advisable to reboot first before deleting them, just to make sure that none of them are still in use. That's also why it's advisable to reboot your computer after installing a program, whether you're prompted to do it or not.

Thanks for your help on this. I'll delete files as recommended and download the adaware.

This should be fixed too:

O2 - BHO: BTGrabObj Class - {00000000-F09C-02B4-6EC2-AD0300000000} - C:\WINDOWS\BTGRAB.DLL

Boot into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen)

Open My Computer.
Select the View menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
In the Hidden files section select Show all files.
Click OK.

Find and delete these files:
C:\WINDOWS\BTGRAB.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DXPFFNDW.EXE

Empty the Recycle Bin.

Reboot, post a new log.
