When I try to download HJT from spywareinfo.com, McAfee pops up and tells me that it is infected with the w32/Generic.worm!.p2p and then deletes it.
Have I got a problem? Or is McAfee mis-reading the file? McAfee is up-to-date and I am on a WinXP (Home version).
I am using the link on one of the "Security Stickies" to access the spywareinfo.com site.

The following was posted in another thread by ROLLIN ROG.

The new 1.99.1 version of HijackThis is reported falsely detected as W32/Generic.worm!p2p by McAfee and a couple of others.

I'm sure it will be corrected in due time. Ignore it for now.

Ad-aware temporarily stores infected files in an Ad-aware temp folder and that might explain the detection there. I don't know what you are seeing from Spybot

thanks for the response. I searched earlier for a similar thread, but I guess I had bad search terms.
Anyway to download and bypass McAfee? McAfee automatically snatches the download and deletes it. I'm downloading and trying to save to a folder, with the intention of unzipping and installing later.

Update. I moved an older version of HJT v 1.98 from my WinMe to this XP machine and then tried to update it. That didn't work either. Should I disable McAfee until I get the new HJT up and running?
