    Any Help ?

First the registry cleanup question: What Program Should I Use ?
Between Norton SW, Registry Mechanic™ 2.1 , PcDocRx, and PC Bug Doctor (I am sure there are others). I do not really like the price tag on the latter two, at least not if I want to regualrly check and cleanup the registry and other related problems.

My symptom is a VERY SLOW WinXp system. Especially at the boot screen and the initial load of any of the user profiles.

BTW: Here is my HJT log for any support and ideas. Thanks, BC

You can go here to learn about startup:
    http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

Have you thought about disabling startup items that you don't need to start on bootup.Having too much stuff in there can slow your system down dramatically, and strictly speaking, you don't really have to have anything starting on bootup. The only things I allow to start on bootup on my machine are my anti virus and firewall.
I personally don't find it so difficult to start programs when I need them and stop them when I am done with them.

    Also go here:http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
and check out the service configurations, there are a lot of services that you can disable to help your system run better and faster

I am starting to suspect that my driver(s) may be the problem. I have pulled many and most of the startup items, repaired simple registry items but still have the problem. I am going item by item in my h/w device list but wish there was a simpler way. . .

I have run motherboard utilities (home built system) and everything "appears" to be current.

The simpler way is here, can get a copy of Aida32 Final Release here:
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Scroll down to #317,click on it, and save to a location of your choice.

Run the tool and it will give you a detailed report on everything about your system
