    Hello friends!

At the moment, I'm trying to rid my parents' computer of spyware/malware/adware, and I must say, I'm almost done. But it comes to HJT and it's log, and I have no experience analyzing the log. So... if anyone could, and tell me what to get rid of and how.. that would be excellent.

One of the main things I know of is an old installation of WinMX and it's modifications the the host file, so I want to get rid of that, but I don't really know how.

Highlighted in red are what the log auto analyzer at netorktechs.com told me to remove, but I know that the last one (Wireless adapter) is not bad.

    Anyway, here.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ca.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/c...search/ie.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://ca.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/c.../www.yahoo.com
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://ca.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/c.../www.yahoo.com

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

    ctfmon.exe: http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ctfmon/
    xpnetdiag.exe: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914440

Download the Hoster and unzip it to your desktop.

    Next, open the Hoster
Make sure that you see "Your hosts file is editable" if not click the button in the upper right corner
Now, click on 'back up Host files'
then click on 'Restore Microsoft's orginal host files'
    Finally, close the hoster.
