Helping out a freind with an unusual memory leak. I have checked for malware, spyware, adware and viruses. Everything comes up clean. This is a last resort. As I am not that skilled at reading these things I am asking for your assistance.

right now the only thing that sticks out is that it is running from a temp directory....should fix that, have it run from c:\hjt\hijackthis.exe.....

nope, I could be missing something, but nothing is really sticking out at me....does he use a brothers printer? Also, what is the specific problem he is having?

This is an office computer. The major problem is that after awhile they get an error saying "insuffecent resorces to complete task" or something like that when they try to open a program. Restarting fixes the problem, but I think this is a sign of something bigger.

agreeance on that. Sounds like you've got a day of tech support in front of you, buddy. Start by disconnecting the machine from the network, maybe installing process explorer, running memtest, and doing lots and lots of processor intensive things. Hopefully that will begin to narrow down the issue. Also, if you could get the event.vwr warning that would help a lot.

Does it end in bsod? Or just won't open the app? Also get the verbatim message given.

But you know all that. Hell, you've been here longer than me. Congrats on the DM, btw....missed it when it happened.

So did I :p

Error does not go BSOD, just refuses to open the app.

The problem that I am faceing with this is that they need that computer every day. Doesnt give me much time to take it and run the in depth diagnostics. That and it is hard to convince my freind that something like this cant be fixed by buying more ram  I will try to convince them to let me have a day running diagnostics, but it might not happen for a while.

what does the process manager say? How much ram, also? And have you checked the ram? Rt click my computer, see if what it says is there jives with what you see when you crack the case.
