Smash

If you haven't got anything useful to say don't say it

None of your advise will help anybody and you just confuse the issue

Please leave fixing problems to someone who knows what they are doing

Rollzroyce21,

Click here to download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

· Install Ewido.
· During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
· Launch ewido.
· It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen.
· On the left side of the main screen click update.
· Click on Start and let it update.
· DO NOT run a scan yet.

Restart your computer into Safe Mode now.
(Start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen).
Perform the following steps in Safe Mode:

* Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop.

Reboot.

Post a new Hijack This log and the results of the Ewido scan.

Thanx for the help! I really appreciate it.
I don't know how much the ewido helped though.

Here's the HJT log after the ewido scan.

What happens when you try to run these programs? Do they freeze? Error?

I think you might have a VX2 infection, but I will proceed with the fixes...

You have no anti-virus protection. Get AVG (it's free): http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

With IE closed, run Hijack This again.
Put a checkmark on these entries and hit "fix checked":

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://letgohome.com/hp.htm?id=9

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://letgohome.com/hp.htm?id=9

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: 37x2lzejfkktfkll.dll

Boot into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen)

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default,
Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer.
Go to Tools > Folder Options.
Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types."
Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Find and delete these folders:
C:\Program Files\Kazaa
C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS

Find and delete these files:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\5626K1~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sgf6cfnw7n.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\cl2przaw5hfms.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dnscleaner.exe
winlogin.exe (unsure of exact location)
37x2lzejfkktfkll.dll (unsure of exact location)

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box.
The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options.
On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files".
Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin.

Reboot, post a new log.

Locate this file:

C:\WINDOWS\bad3074.exe

If you find it, delete it.

Oh man...
OK, lots to do.
I'll let you know as soon as I'm done.
My previous ewido scan took about an hour and 15 minutes.

There was one file that HJT was not able to delete.

04 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe

What is this?
It said a program was using it and to open task manager to find and stop it.
I was not able to find it.
