I've just recently put 2x 1g of DDR ram, but I can't see any difference. I do have a lot of a lot of rubbish. Maybe it's time for a clean install.

So RAM definitely isn't the issue :) Done any routine maintenance like a disk cleanup or defrag? Get rid of some of the clutter. Limit down the amount of items running at Startup.
