    Hi, I am trying to setp up my xp machine with my win 2000 machine. Can someone be kind enough and help me out with this. Both my computers are attached to my router and both are attached with a nic card. Next is where I need the help please?

    So what do you want to do with the two machines? Share files? Guess I'm not sure what you're wanting to do next =).

    Just to have connectivity and share files, please. You know to be able to connect using my network places, please.

    If you just plug them in you should get internet to both automatically. To share files etc you need some more advanced setup.

    Just trying to get on the same page as you, thats all =).

    If you right click on the folder you wish to share and goto properties, there is a tab that says Sharing. Click the radio button that says share this folder and name it.

    To access that folder on the other computer, goto start > run and type \\<name of other computer>. It should bring up a window with all the folders shared on the other computer.

    Ok, This is where I stand On win 2000 I can see and access what I need on XP machine.

    When it comes to my Xp machine, I ca not see my win 2000 machine. I allowed my firewall on XP machine. What would cause this, please?

    What happens when you goto Start > Run and type in \\<name of 2000 machine>?
