Help; my home page has been hijacked; even when I go thru "tools" and "internet options," it doesn't save the homepage I want; it defaults to something that has been selected for me.

Welcome to TSG!! :)

Make a folder on your hard drive, like My Documents\HJT
Download Hijackthis.
Unzip the file to the folder on your hard drive.

Double click on Hijackthis.exe then click on the "Scan" button, then click on "Save Log".

Copy and paste it back here and someone will be happy to review it.

Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.

I downloaded "hijack this" and did the save log; I clicked and dragged it over to the email - but was notified that was the wrong way to reply - so, how do I copy and paste it back to the appropriate forum
Many thanks
Douglas

Run the scan, click save log, when it opens in Notepad go to Edit, Select all, Edit, copy, Return to TSG, right click with the mouse and select paste.

Rescan with Hijack This and post a fresh log. The reason you must rescan with Hijack This each time is because with this hijack the entries in Hijack This may change depending on what you have done with the computer since your last post. I will be wasting my time and yours if I tell you what to remove with HJT if the entries change between posts.

Click here to download getservice.zip and unzip it to your desktop. Open the Getservice folder and click on the getservices.bat file. A notepad will open up with a long list of Services. Please save that notepad file and attach it to your next reply to this thread. It will be easier to attach it rather than copy and paste because it will be too long to paste in one post.

After you post the next Hijack This log and the getservice list, it is very important that you not restart your computer or attempt to do anything to remove this until I have posted the removal directions because the files and the entries in HJT will change and we will have to start all over again. It would be best that you do nothing at all with the computer until you get the directions.
