Everytime I go to bring up homepage I now get this Search Engine - micro page with a lot of columns and categories. I have Windows XP and I have to type in the charter.msn.net address to get my home page. It doesn't work to go to Tools, Internet Options. The page comes back everytime I go to Internet Explorer. How do I get rid of this?

Thanks. Elizabeth

Hi! this should help you.

Please download and run the following programs.
AD-AWARE

Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
and download Ad-Aware 6 Build 181

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right-hand corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------ON=GREEN

From main window: Click Start then Activate in-depth scan (recommended)

Click Use custom scanning options then click Customize and have these options selected: Under Drives and Folders put a check by Scan within archives and below that under Memory and Registry put a check by all the options there.

Now click on the Tweak button in that same window. Under Scanning engine select Unload recognized processes during scanning and under Cleaning Engine select Let windows remove files in use at next reboot

Click proceed to save your settings.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer>>>>>>next download SPYBOT SD 1.2 and update it and run. click here for SPY BOT> http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194058.html?tag=lst-0-1 Remove all it finds. Good luck my friend.

Hi, We reccommend also posting a HijackThis log for review... the two programs posted above, both excellent tools that no one today should be without!, are removers, but cannot do ALL the work! There are many many malwares that a HJT log can show, and that are NOT fixable using just AAw and/or SpyBot.

Follow the directions here to copy and paste your log, and use the link for "HJThis from Here" which you see just under "Lurkhere" at this page, to download HijackThis. It's in .zip format- so you will need a file unzipper to use it, or, here is one in .exe format:

down the page a bit.
