    Hi guys

I am pretty noob at all this but at least I have managed to setup my own home web/file/email server. There's just one thing that I can't get right and at this point I think I might be wasting my time.

I have a static IP + domain name from my ISP which points to my home router. I have forwarded web/file/mail to the local IP of my Synology NAS(192.168.1.6). So this is all fine when I am away from home and browsing to my domain name. The problem is when I am at home. What I have gathered is that I am trying to setup a loopback?

I want to be able to use my home LAN to browse to my domain or allow my iPhone to check mail on my mail server. At the moment I am having to use the local IP to access the server within the same LAN. Is this possible with my simple router setup?

Let me know if you need more information.

    Thanks

Some routers have the loopback ability you want and some do not. I know of no way of determining this except to try it. :( Apparently yours does not have it.
