I have a laptop, free wifi. not ethernet port. I have a personal router. Is there anything I can do to make my xbox one stay connected to xbox live. Our home burned down while we were visiting family. Insurance has us in a Days in. Can i use the router to pull wifi to make it a ethernet port? like an access point? or bridge it somehow? I tried to find it on the web but no luck. If anyone could help. That would be great.

    Thank you

If the router has Wireless Bridge (or Wireless Client) mode you may be able to use it as a Wireless Bridge (depends on whether connecting to the wireless network requires some kind of authentication through a browser). Scan the router's User Guide or look through its various settings. Most routers have no such capability.

Assuming that does not work probably the least expensive workaround is to buy a USB ethernet adapter for the laptop and bridge the wireless and ethernet connections in the Network Connections window.
