How do I find things that I have downloaded but do not see in my download file? I m not sure of the title/name of the missing information, so using the ms 10 find feature has not often helped.
This is very common with all users not just seniors. It's because of what folder you were last in when you go to save something. Open file explorer and search each folder in ther...ie doc, music, pictures, downloads, 3D and video. They will be in one of those.
You can set your browser to give you a pop up asking you where you want to save said download file. I do that fore every browser I have. What browser do you use?
Thank you for the clear answer. I need to understand about files and will ask u again if it is not clear. The 2 browsers i switch between are Google and Brave. I am thinking i may swallow my dislike of "free" google and stay there all the time. Pls instruct on the file notice maker
Open chrome, in the top right corner you'll see 3 vertical dots....click that. That will open a new pop up window, in that windows click settings, In the new Chrome window, on the left hand side you'll see a list, look for advanced and click that, The list will expand and look for downloads, click that. On/in the window you'll see the download area, in that you see the phrase; "Ask where to save each file before downloading".....make sure that is on....the slider should turn blue to indicate it's on.
Now when you download something a window will pop up, looks like file explorer. That pop up will ask you where you want to save said download. All you have to do is pick a folder and your done. If you're downloading a picture to save.....save it to the picture folder and the same thing for songs, videos and so forth.
i only now get the idea that a folder is like the non virtual world office manila folders into which docs and photos and letters of any kind may be placed. All related in some way to the name on the folder. The thing is, I m old and slow so pls know i am happy to have discovered this volunteer service opty. i will report again as i make slow progress. hehe ;];]

Yep....even when I was younger and first got into computers I had to grasp at the concept until someone explained it like that. Then it all mad sense....as you say albeit a virtual world.
Hey....progress is progress no matter how little or slow it comes. We're here to help if we can!
