I have one PC that is connecting wirelessly to a network

I have a laptop that I can't get the wireless to work on (this is due to a physical fault)
I've tried using an external wireless USB stick - but no joy
Basically it's an old and battered laptop

How can I share the internet connection from the PC (that's getting the connection wirelessly)?

Can I join the PC and the laptop with an ethernet cable and share the connection??
    If so, how?

    Thanks

    OM

the only way its possible is if your wireless card has ap mode , where it can be switched from client mode to ap mode, you would also need to run your ethernet card in ics mode to allow access

better to get a wireless router and connect it to the pc and it will find the wirelss network you have and then u can run as many wirelss networks as the wirelss router can handle LAN PORTS its going to be the easiest way hope this helps!

OK, just to clear this up, where exactly is your wireless signal coming from? Because it seems like somewhere in the system there is a wireless router, and at that point you should be able to drop an ethernet cable to connect to your laptop. Is this a home network or a business network?

You can hook the two PCs together via a cross over connection and have the wireless internet connection setup as a gateway/shared internet connection. This would work, but as posted in previous comments you should just plug the laptop that does not have working wireless directly into your wireless router.

if u get a wireless router the router will pick up the wireless source and the u can put the laptop into the router and then share the internet connection. its just like u r doing now with r USB stick but with a wireless router u can put as many LANs as it holds
