Just re-installed windows etc and now my computer is ssetup to play surround sound, which i do not have (i have 2 speakers and a subwoof). Ive changed the setting from surround sound to desktop speakers in the windows control panel for audio, it seems to be something called 'Sound MAX' that is controling my audio, i cannot remeber having this when i had my speakers working correctly (although i did have it when i first got the pc just cannot remeber how i configured it to play sounds correctly on my speakers)

any help is obviously welcome :)

if you goto your control panel there should be a SoundMax utility. double click it and check through it's settings.

    good luck
