i was going to create a foums system on my website: https://hrssoft.github.io , but i wanted to actually have the database for the posts on a github repo. also i was wondering a way to link the repo and my website so that when someone on my website clicks "Create new thread," they get taken to a page where they can create the thread and the thread gets forwarded to the github repo and the thread pops up on the "Threads" page on my website. Does anyone know how to do this?? please let me know how if u do. thx

github is just a place to put files. You don't control their server, and thus you can't install a database there. A database consists of the database application, and the database data file and sundry tools.

Just create the database on your website. Some web hosts have all sorts of packages available ready to install, like databases. There is no advantage to have your database on github, your users use your web page to interact and post threads anyways. Having a remote database just creates configuration headaches: your code has to talk to a foreign server, the firewall rules on both sides have to be setup properly, and you probably have a file size restriction on github, your forum software has to customized .....

What is offered by your hosting company? I usually use MySQL; you would find a lot of books on that.

If your web hosting company has packages available for you, they would have made it easy to install with a few clicks. What hosting company do you use currently?

Google sites don't allow installation of any software. You can only use their editor to create static pages. or tie in with Google apps in some way. But having a forum is not part of their feature set. And, you are only limited to 15 GB of space in your Google Drive; if you also use your Google Drive for other things, that space will get smaller. Find a real hosting company, but of course you have to pay. Nothing in life is free. HostGator is one of the cheapest : https://www.hostgator.com/vps-hosting
