How do I edit the right click menu in windows explorer?

    Hello Everyone,

    Windows XP home>>>>The problem is there are items in the right click menu (when I right click on a folder on the desktop)that I would like to remove and also a change the default right click item from search to open Any help out there. Please send a cook book fashion reponse...sometimes I am dense....

    Quite simple.You cant (at least it is not that simple) . One way to do this is by using a security software which removes certain privileges fro users.

    Two programs that will allow you to do this are Context Edit and Shell Extension Viewer (the bottom 2 links).

    The Search/Open problem is a registry error. You didn't say what OS you are running, or whether files, folders, both, or particular file types are affected, but if XP, start by downloading and running this script:

    ContextEdit:

    Shell Extension Viewer:
