how do i find out firmware version ?

im trying to find out the firmware version of my dvd player

it is a hitachi DVD-rom GD5000

i put it into a shop they say they updated the frimware and said that it was working fine.

but i put it back in my system and its exactly the same as it was before, i just want to know if i have the latest version like they say i t should have?

so how do i check what version i have?
and how would i find what the latest version is ?

thanks for any help in advance !!!!!

right click my computer, click properties, device manager, cdrom,
double click your dvd player and then click on settings.
It's firmware vesion should be there.

the firmware version i have is 0213 can anyone tell me if there is a newer version available ???

i have done this but cant seem to find any mention of the dvd drive let alone any firmware for it

What;s the revision date of your 0213?
All I can find is revision 0112 dated 9/99.
You might already have the latest revision.

well i have looked everywhere and i cannot find a firmware version of any kind anywhere ..... i think i wil just have to bin the dvd and buy a new one

You mean to say the firmware version is not the system properties - device manager section for your dvd player?
I gave you the path in my earlier post.

Now can anyone PLEASE!!!!! tell this idiot,

how do i update the firmware in my hitachi gd5000?

please try to remember that i have never done this before!!!!

so plain but detailed directions would be wonderfully appreciated.
