hi,

I recently had BootXP to change my boot screen. I had to delete this to instal windows sp1 (service pack 1). I deleted BootXP but the boot sceen still stayed there. When i start up my comp it comes up with an option screen asking which boot screen I would like to start up with. One is called SimpMatrix and the other Windows XP. Because i deleted bootxp when I click on SimpMatrix the normal xp boot screen comes up. What I really want to do is get that option menu away because the two are the same boot screen.

sorry if that made no sense lol.

cheers

It made enough sense.

You need to edit your boot.ini file.

Right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery Settings button.

Click the "Edit" button, copy the contents and paste it for us to have a look at.

Great.

Just remove the entry about the boot screen and leave the rest. So it should look like this:
-------------------------
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
--------------------------------
Try that and then tell us how well it worked :D.
