after reinstalling win98 with a quick restore cd (compaq pc), before adding anything, i did a ctrl-alt-del to get a list of what it's got running.
How do I delete a program called watchdog? it's not on add/remove programs. the only place i see it is in msconfig. is that all i can do is uncheck it there?

Here is some info from Compaq about it. It might be a part of BackWeb which, I believe, can be removed from Add/Remove if you choose.

http://web14.compaq.com/falco/detail.asp?FAQnum=FAQ494

If you want to remove the item alltogether from msconfig, you can eliminate entry in the registry. If you have unchecked it it will be in:

HKey_Local_Machine
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion

Run-

or Run if not unchecked.

You can delete the item by right clicking on the entry in the right hand pane and selecting delete.

To open the registry editor, go to start and run: regedit
