I have a blinking real player icon in my taskbar and i want it gone. And...in general I'd like to know how to control what goes in the taskbar.

    Thanks!

You can click Start . . Run and type msconfig . . . click on the Start Up tab and uncheck anything you do not want to start on it's own

In the case of RealPlayer, and some other apps, you need to disable it via the application itself.
Open the program via the icon in the Systray area, and look for Options and I believe ControlPanel. Also, unselect anything that looks like it will check for updates.

    Wrong thread????

Remove on boot will delete files. There is no mention/request to delete files? They just want the icon to stop appearing. IE Stop the application from running.
