Hello. I'm ripping DVDs so that I can post snippets of scenes to put on Youtube videos within fair dealing laws. I'm trying to rip DVDs with Handbrake and it does create a file with playable videos, and there are no problems with the sound. However the picture quality comes out noticeably degraded. This might be a compression but I'm not sure.

I've tried adjusting the bar of the "Constant Quality -- RF" bar under the video section to increase image quality before downloading and adjusting over relevant variables but to no avail.

What do I need to do to resolve this issue?

With regards,
Roy

Are these copy protected videos ???
I use Media Info to see the specs of a video.

The resolution (quality) of a DVD is 720x480 ... Lower than what I upload to YouTube.

What does Media Info say about your output from Handbrake.

I always use constant Framerate (lipsync) and H.264 (Mp4) format ...
and never noticed a serious degradation ...
What Video editor are you using to make snippets ???

Ah. @Noyb. I've checked and it was copy protected. When I tried it with a non-copy protected DVD the download into MP4 worked with no problem. Cheers.

I used streamable.com to upload to Youtube which has always worked well.

Is there a way to get around the copy protection?
