I have windows ME and I'm trying to restore the machine. Putting the restore disks in before restarting isnt working. You need to be in Dos to use the restore program. There must be a button to press during startup, right?

Go into the BIOS at boot time (F2 on Dell's) and make sure it boots from CD first.

Hi sadLtlGoblin!

As the pc is starting up, keep the Left or Right Ctrl key pressed, or keep hitting F-8.
It will bring you to a screen that offers choices on Start up mode.

are you trying to boot from CD or get into BIOS?
If you need to be in DOS press F8 during bootup and there may be a command prompt only option.

Another option if you need to be in DOS is start>run> type command and enter
