I'm sorry is this has been posted about before, but I did look for it. Well, basically I signed in to MSN Messenger into my sister's username (Windows computer) and now next to her name it comes up with "190 unread messages." (mostly junk mail) and she asked me to get rid of it. I can't think of a quicker way than deleting them one by one. I wondered if anyone knew how to get rid of it. Thanks.

Hi caitlin

Press ctrl while you scroll through the messages you want to delete by clicking on them. when you are done highlighting them press Shift+Del to remove them permanantly.

I know this works for outlook express. Not sure if it will work for a internet account

The general way to mark/highlight items in Windows.

1) Press CTRL key - click each item you want to copy/move/delete with mouse.
2) Click or highlight the beginning of the group you want to copy/move/delete, then hold the SHIFT key and click the last item in the group.
3) Press CTRL A - to highlight everything in a folder.

Hi caitlin

Are you referring to the Windows XP Welcome screen?

Overview of the Mail Notification Display on the Windows XP Welcome Screen

Or you can use the .reg fix here:
Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Scroll down to line 100.

Or you can download Tweak UI for Windows XP here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Install then start Tweak UI
Under Logon select Unread Mail
Uncheck: Show unread mail on Welcome screen
Apply, OK to save and close.

Let us know what works for you.
