It's been a question on my mind for quite a while now. How exactly do (3D) games work in the aspect of the movement? I'm sure that every part of the game's scenary is a 2D image. Does it work something like when a player moves (lets say +0.1) would all the images go -0.1, or something completely different?

The scenery is 2D textures attached to a multitude of 3D planes, there is a player viewpoint and direction that determines which of those planes are visible and in which 'ratio', near (more so in games with more complicated models, with more planes) to the way we see things in real life.
