I meet all the requirements for Battlefield Bad Company 2 aside from my cpu. It says I should have Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.0 GHz/AMD Athlon 64 X2 or better and I have PentiumĀ® Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz. Would I still be able to run it?

Yes it will most likely run fine. Answering to your thread title, a CPU is as important to gaming as your brain is important for thinking, but the system requirements list provided with games is not 100% accurate, and you're not far from a Core 2 Duo with that processor. :)
