how many files

how do I find out how many files I have on my hard drive can I do it using the search facility and clicking all files and folders and entering c:\ in the box. Then on the search result page just looking at the final number. Thanks.

Hi there. Heres what I do.

Open up Windows Explorer (Windows Key+E) and double click on your hard drive. Then select everything in the window(Ctrl+A), and finally go to File, Properties. At the top of the window that appears, it will give you a count of how many files and folders there are.

In Windows 9X there use to be a command you could type in at the dos prompt but I don't remember what that was and I dont see it in NT/2000/XP.
