do you think you spend in random discussion verses other TSG forums?

LOL mine is about 100% unless I have a problem....i tend to stay away from helping anyone coz well....i don't know how and wouldn't want to give bad advise. Terrible I know...but these forums can take all the time when you are interested in more than a few.

Same here...By the time I figure out, or type even the simplest of answers one or more of the regulars has usually already responded.

note: I spend way to much time here in general...instead of working on an addition I started on my house I fool around on the computer :D

I spend 30 - 45 min here each day, then on to other forums. Sometimes I come back to just browse the Random Discussions. I find it very interesting.

Well, I'm sort of a "specialist" (which means I
don't know much...). I usually check on the
    "Development" forum (lookin' for C/C++
    questions), then "DOS/Mac/PDA/Other" (for
DOS dinosaur questions), then work my way
up from "Tips & Tricks" to this forum.

Anyway, most of my time is spent here... :)

It used to be about 80-20 in favour of Buisness Apps, when I was an infrequent visitor. Now I check here almost every day, it's swung to 20-80. LOL :D

    he he, me too Gram123,

I was a big fan of the Hardware, Software, and 98/Me forums, but lately it's been 80% community and the other 20% wandering. Beats the news and dating websites.

Besides, I learn more here! (have you seen the neat stuff at Tips and Tricks?)

Well, I didn't come to the Random Discussion untill around nov. 10. Since then, it is about 98% in here and other parts of "community"... then if I remember I'll swing by hardware, win 95/98/me, and win 2k/NT/Xp, and any others I happen to stumble into. Wow... its pretty bad... I hardly help as much people as I used to. Now I know why Candy always says we are in never-never land here... hehe. :D

When I first came here I spent most of my time trying to help others in either the "Security" or the "Web/Browsers" areas sometimes "Hardware"........

......For reasons I know not I found this "Random Discussions" area and I now spend 90% of my time here.

I even feel a bit guilty sometimes and I go and find someone in another forum area that needs help and I try to get involved. It has not changed one bit it still feels great whenever I can help someone out........when they post back to say thanks I still get a nice buzz out of knowing that I could help someone else out.

There is no doubt (to me) that helping someone out with a 'puter' problem is far more rewarding than whatever points of views are being tossed around in "Random Politics".

I still spend more time helping in the other forums, but every once in a while, I feel the need to give Moulder a reality check.

I might spend about 2 hours on the board over the day, and replying to threads I have posted in is about half of that, with the other half trolling for interesting topics, or one's that i might be able to help in.

Ok so you spend more time help other and not coming here to Random Discussion take the first letter of your user name and any day of the week that has that letter in it you can not come here.:D

Oops, look like you Dark Star, deuce_mn and anglin_fool are in big trouble.:p

Hey really having places like this Random Discussion brings people here to help other also.
I was at a message board that was great and it had a chit-chat too but the chit-chat forum was closed down and the site lost some real good people that help others out in the other forums at the site.

Time to find a joke for another tread.

your right there hew. We've all educated each other on other things here in randum dis...like anthrax or just stating what product we like best or laws on things like gun control.

i guess i may help out more then i think....lol.

When I started in July I only came to the site for help when I was hitting my head against the wall. After my car accident I couldn't move around too well and I started checking out this site a little more. I wondered what else it had to offer and I found out - a bunch of great people.

I have learned from some of your suggestions, tips and whatever else you talk about. So you're helping someone no matter where you go. I have also looked at the apps and hardware section but the moderators there are good and know the answers.

I continue to work but just leave this site minimized (T1 line at work) so that I can check it between everything else I have to do.

Glad to be a part of this great group.

    :) Mary

does anyone see a common thread in the responses, "i used to help out in the other areas more but then found random....." thats my story too i'm almost ashamed to admit. Whenever i tell a member about random i give advanced notice - it can become addictive

DS yes it does feel great when someone tells you that you've helped them!!

I could not agree more and I could not have said it any better. We don't really know why but we all kinda seem to wind up here somehow.

It does have a bit of a large family flavor here and I think as we get to know each other better we tend to post and come back to see who we've managed to P*ss off, and who is having a good laugh with us.

Everyone here is really good people (except for Kirkland) and heck I've even come to like him  ......I can't beleive I just said that. Oh well......

Whenever I think about the members that are actively helping others with the real issues while I'm here screwing around and having fun I too feel a bit guilty but not so much that I'm not here right now.

I've thanked eddie 5659 many times now for showing me this place almost a year ago now.........wow, how time flies. I guess he knew I could be of help in the Security and Web Browser area and I wonder if he's not thinking "I bring this guy here to help out and where does he spend most of his time?" LOL......
........just kidding we PM all the time and he knows were to find me if and when he wants to. He an Rollin Rodge along with the others have it well covered over there so I can feel guilt free being here, right? hmmmmmm

Why is it that when you mentioned July and a car accident and a hospital stay I first thought you might be the same person who asked about a laptop PC and some relative info........was that you?

Of course you help out here and you are a part of this family and you can't leave or go anywhere, so we insist you have to be here with us.........so there :p

You are way cool man, I am really glad that we met when we did.
I suppose that deuce_mn, anglin_fool and I are in big trouble, not sure why yet but I know you warned us.

    Gram, Mac, Randy,

What can I say, I feel like I've known you guys forever, and then some, and Mac I've not even started to pick your brains about DOS yet especially the "dinosaur questions" that's about the time I put the DOS book down. :D

    robcaro, buck,

I know our paths have crossed here and I recall it being "all good".......

One last little thingy I never use the spellchecker and I won't use it either.......what you see is what you get, no one is perfect and I doubt there is anyone keeping score here anyway. ;)
