Pretty darn safe!
Apple fell on day one - Vista on day two -- When the smoke cleared away only Ubuntu 7.10 remained standing.

At least for now. And just to remind everyone, even though Linux now comes with the iptables firewall facility does not mean that it keeps the buggers out - it accepts everything!
