    How can i connect to a wireless network when away from home. Windows Vista

    What do you mean that when you are away from home? That you wants to connect to your own network using the Vista computer and you are from a different location?

    How to connect to someone else's network,like starbucks or mcdonalds?

    ah ok... go to the start button and click connect to a network. Find the network name that you wanted to connect and select it, then click connect

    If they're free hotspots, they're normally not encrypted, so connecting is as easy as tek guy suggests. :)

    Wireless at Starbuck's isn't free. You need to sign up and pay for a T-Mobile hotspot account.
