My brother lives about 300 feet from my house and had a wireless network. He said I could get a wireless adaptor and be able to connect to the internet using his network. How is this done, what equipment would I need to purchase? I have an e-machines t1100 w/ windows xp, and currently have dial up.
Thank you for any help. :)

You need to get a directional antenna and a wireless adapter. If he's line-of-sight, you should be OK, it'll be a bit more difficult if there are obstructions in the way. He can also help the situation on his end with a directional antenna and by positioning the router/antenna in the best location for you.

For an E-Machine, you will need to purchase a wireless PCI adapter. You can get this online, or from any local computer store.
