How to format Dell 4550?

    i want to format my computer to where it's like brand new. can someone give me a little step by step?

    Do you have the recovery CDs from Dell? Put that in and install it and everything will be reset to the way it came.

    get a boot floppy so that you can parition it yourself. then type

    fdisk /dev/hda
    type p to see the current table
    typing d will delete the partition by number.

    doing this will erase the information, but using a cd will do the same but you have more control with fdisk

    on second thought, i forget how fdisk works on windows since ive been using linux for a while now. you should be able to just type in fdisk at a command prompt and the commands will be the same if not /dev/hda

    if i install a new hard drive on my computer can i just format the c: drive and send all my mp3's and important things onto the hard drive?
