    hi all.
    i have a dell inspiron 3551 laptop.
the laptop is almost 3 years old and its running fantastic.
but now i am finding it a bit slow.
right now i am not on my laptop so cant provide the specs but as i get back ill edit this post with the specs.
all i can tell it has 4gb ram i think its ddr4 at 1600mhz.
    and a 500gb 5400rpm hard drive.
so what will be the best upgrade to improve its performance.
also when purchasing ram what are the details that i must look and how much can it take.
the cpu is Intel Pentium n3540

We need more information about your Dell Inspiron 3551 laptop, so please do the following in it:

Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) file.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your laptop will appear.
Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

Why is your laptop running Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview(unknown version and build) instead of Windows 10 Pro Version 1803 Build 17134?

What is the exact 7-character "service tag" number on it?

HERE is the support site that's assigned to your Dell Inspiron 5551 laptop which originally came with Ubuntu Linux 14.04.
You should and add and save this site in your browser's favorites/bookmarks list so you can quickly refer to it when needed.

Unless you plan to buy a legitimate copy of Windows 10 Home or Pro 64-bit, it looks like you're stuck with using an Insider Preview version/build.
I personally have never used it, but I believe it expires after a certain date.

I'm not there, so I can't advise you why your laptop is running slow.
It may have too many running processes or may be infected or both.
