    Hello

Does anyone know an easy way to apply a grayscale setting to the desktop??? It must be possible since XP does this with apparent ease when the shutdown dialog shows.

Is there a script I could run that would do the trick ???:)

Your post encouraged me to have a tinker with my own Desktop - result below. I just made a copy of one of the theme pics (located in Windows>Web>Wallpaper) and converted it to greyscale in Irfanview then pasted it back into the folder with a new name. If you right click on the Desktop and choose Properties the picture will be available as a new background. Alternatively you can right click on any picture and choose 'Set as Desktop Background'.

Now if I could just get that Start Button black......

Why not just back the color setting right off from the monitor and make it greyscale?

I suppose that would be fine if you wanted everything else greyscale too. :)

I do want everything to be greyscale - buttons, icons etc... but I was looking for a way to do this programmatically - something I could implement from within a custom application as a special effect.
