I have a word file from 2000 that I am unable to open. A file conversion box pops up, saying select the conversion that allows you to read your doc. None of the 3 choices works. I tried downloading a converter pack (OCONPCK) but that does not seem to help.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does the file have a .DOC extension? (first thing I'd check).

Couple of suggestions:
1- Right click on the file "Open With".... Notepad. (Being saved with Word- you've have a lot of junk to get past--- but you might be able to open the file and find the info you are looking for.

2- OpenOffice.org - I have heard it said that sometimes OpenOffice will open Word files that not even MSWord can open. (The program is free and certainly worth trying--- danger is that you may decide not return to WORD.)
