I need to reformat because I got so much crap on my computer - I just need good directions on how to reformat with XP home. If you need any other information, just ask. I found another thread about this but it was to install a different OS, and I'm just going to reinstall XP Home, so I wanted to make my own to make sure I don't mess up. Please help me, and thanks in advance to who does.

    To install xp.

    1) Boot with the xp cd [set cd as first boot device in the bios]
    2) Restart computer with xp cd in cd drive
    3) After setup loads, choose to install from the menu
    4) From menu delete partition in which xp is now installed
    5) Create partition from menu; note the default is entire disk accept if that is what you want. If not use backspace key to type in new size
    6) Format with ntfs
    7) Setup will continue

The menus are straightforward, just read carefully. Have drivers, service pack, and any other patches you might need burned to cd or other media. It will make the install go easier.
