I need to reinstall XP. I found the XP serial number with a program but I do not have any disks to reinstall. What do I need for disks? Will an OEM disk work?

You might try going to whoever made your computer like dell, hp, etc and see if you can get restore/recovery disks for it. i think in order to use the COA sticker product code it has to be an OEM disk and not a retail one because the code wont match.if im wrong on that im sure someone will correct me.altho i do remember being in that predicament once and used a retail disk and it wouldnt activate because the codes were different.

What's the exact version of Windows XP that's listed on the Microsoft Certificate-Of-Authenticity sticker that has the 25-character serial number?

What's the brand name and model name and model number of that computer?

Thanks for the info. It is a custom computer. I will try an OEM disk.

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600). I used a program to find the serial number in my computer. It is a custom built computer.
