I recently had a laptop that died and I want to copy all the data from the old drive to a new external hard drive. I noticed though that as I browse through the files when I took the drive out everything required me to click continue because I didnt have access to the folders. Is there some mass way to remove any of the older permissions that were saved so there arent any issues when I use the drive on a different PC?

If I have not minsunderstood and you are meaning to image the complete drive and then reinstall to a drive on a DIFFERENT computer it is VERY unlikely that it will work.
The drivers for the chipset, graphics, lan, sound etc etc. will most likely be different.
If you are however meaning ONLY your personal data folders then that of course is a different matter.
