    Hello,

Recently I sent my laptop to apple mainetenance to repair after the hard disk failure. then I sent the failed HD to a guy who extracted all my files including videos, but there's some video I cannot open, I think they are corrupted. for example when I try to open one .mov file with quicktime the attached error message appears. is there a tool to fix or repair corrupted video files ?

    Thanks

I suspect the HDD was corrupted at some point in this process or as a result of the failure. In any case, file recovery software restores files based on the FAT. If the FAT or the data on the disc is corrupted (neither is checked by the recovery software), then the recovered/restored files are typically corrupt as well. And in this case, the data is typically garbage and not the actual file data. Thus it cannot be "fixed".

Having said all of that, try opening the files with a program such as gSpot or MediaInfo. If the files can be properly identified, then you can likely fix the problems.

Most likely, the "files" won't be properly identified. Thus they are simply trash.
