    Hi there!

Is it by any chance possible to show the Internet shortcut file extension in Windows Vista?

This was possible on Windows XP. There is a short how-to on this on the Uniblue RegistryBooster, Liutilities website. It basically tells you to delete the NeverShowExt value in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\InternetShortcut key.

But this doesn't seem to have any affect on Windows Vista. In fact I could not locate this key in Vista, but there is a value called NeverShowExt, located in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Application.Reference key. But deleting that one didn't help.

So what do I do now? Is there no way to show the file extension of Internet shortcut files in Windows Explorer?...

    Thanks in advance!

Must be, since I have them visible.

You need to delete both "NeverShowExtension" entries in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes (which is really a hardlink and not a real part of the registry), and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes, if they exist.
