How to start .exe file automatically after login

    Hi folks,

    Windows XP

    I need to start an executable file .exe to read a .dat file after staring PC and login. Please advise where shall I create a shortcut ? (no schedule task)

    Are you ready to messup with your registry?
    Create a system restore point before that

    Create a shortcut and put it in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

    or

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

    I suppose the first path is only for a particular user?

    Right. Some software can be installed so only that user can run the program.
