    Hi all,

After loading a lot of programs my computer is running very slow. I copied "msconfig.exe" on my desktop, hoping to run it and find out what programs start up with windows and maybe I can disable them. But I don't know how to install msconfig.exe and how to run it. Can anyone help please?

    Thanks in advance.

Forget the desktop, Go to Start then Run...
Type in msconfig without the .exe
    :)

    1 - Click on "START"
    2 - Click on "RUN"
3 - Type in "msconfig" (no quotes)
4 - Click on the "STARTUP" tab
5 - Uncheck anything you don't want to run, except antivirus prog. etc...
    6 - Click "apply"
    7 - Click"OK"
    8 - Restart system.

If you notice a program that isn't running and you want it to or it's supposed to, go back and recheck it.

The more programs you have the more RAM you usually need. How much RAM does your system have?

Is this Windows 2000, or XP Home or Professional?

If you don't feel confident enough to mess with admin tools you may try one of the startup managers available out there.

I recommend you InControl Startup Manager.
