I set up two rules in Outlook Express. The first one had everyone's email address I wanted to hear from and I ticked "stop processing more rules". The next one said "for all messages delete from server". A spammer got thru. How did it happen?

Look at the rules again. I bet it doesn't say anything about everyone else NOT on your list of contacts or address book contents.

Apparently one of your friends is a spammer! :D:D

I think what happened is your logic is out of order.
Don't tick "stop processing more rules"
I think that prevented your rule #2 from taking effect.
